BRAND EVOLUTION STORY

As the Marketing, Web & Design Manager / Lead Designer for this prestigious organization, I was tasked with the challenge of breathing new life into an iconic, yet stayed brand. During my tenure at the Academy I created a new logo and identity system, launched new competitions and products with innovative sub-brand design and digital marketing campaigns, designed and maintained iemmys.tv as an information, entries and membership portal, fine-tuned the social media strategy, and designed a complex integrative design system in order to support the organization’s growing reach and offerings.

International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Membership. In order to attract a new, younger, diverse Membership pool, while maintaining exclusivity, a new sub-brand for Membership was crafted, M+. Member materials, communications and event collateral were given an overhaul and set the tone for what it meant to be a Member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, now a progressive group of the industry’s elite who are transforming the international television landscape in new and exciting ways.

The challenge of updating an icon - the creation of an updated logo that embodies the Academy’s brand values (prestigious, classic, aspirational, established), into a new, more vibrant symbol that could be adapted easily for various uses and sub-branding applications.

International Emmy® World Television Festival

Brand refresh challenge: Creating a fresh look while incorporating a pre-established logo and fixed color palette. As the annual meeting point for the world’s top television professionals, the International Emmy® World Television Festival needed an updated look and more functional, engaging materials (that also would provide opportunities for new income streams).

Restricted by color palette and the use of a pre-established logo, but working with the goal of reflecting the energy of this vibrant business-social event with creators from over 60 countries, a new identity was born. Leaving behind the overly formal, and decidedly functional “trade” feel of the event brand and embracing a more creative, lively, and engaging concept more aligned with the creative aspects of the international television industry.

With the goal to create an interactive digital edition of the International Academy's annual publication, a new accessible, fun and modern update, was born, bringing it from a purely functional almanac that reflected the year's activities, to a fully interactive, engaging. magazine

International Emmy® Magazine Promotion

Social Media Campaign designed to promote the Academy and International Emmy® Magazine while shining a spotlight on previous winners and their work through a Q&A segment featuring trailers of the winning programming, and acceptance speeches at the International Emmy® Awards Ceremony.

Making lively, emotive imagery the focus, and creating an intimate space where industry professionals and members can meet and learn more about the Academy’s initiatives, spanning Membership, Events, Award Entries, and Networking.

International Academy’s Tradeshow Presence

The International Emmy® Awards Semi-Final Round of Judging Events identity system was created in order to standardize materials throughout events by providing the independent hosts a package of easy to use, adaptable brand material for use. This required a strategy that took into account varying technical abilities and needs to produce high quality materials including: signage, promotional materials, cocktail and special event design, etc.

My work with the International Academy was a beautiful exploration of brand values, current membership profiles, and positioning within the industry, and the ways in which we could play with the “edges”, transforming the brand into something vibrant and new by bridging the gap between it’s rich, established past, and its potential audiences and influence.
